AIM Groups: Business Accountability Groups for Therapy Practice Owners

AIM Groups are small, virtual business accountability and implementation groups for psychotherapy and group practice owners in Illinois who have completed a Traction Pod strategic planning intensive.

If you have a business plan for your psychotherapy practice and want consistent follow-through on it, AIM groups give you the structure, accountability, and peer support to stay in action.

A therapist with a vision

You turned on the lights. Now get the structure and support to keep moving forward.

Your Traction Pod served as a strategic planning intensive for you as a therapy practice owner. It helped you see and organize your practice clearly.

But learning and mastering through consistent practice are different things. Without ongoing structure and practice, most owners fall back into old habits. The daily work takes over. The plan sits in a drawer.

AIM Groups give you the training environment to go beyond knowing — to practicing, leading, and building. Registration is on a rolling basis so you can step in when you like and stay as long as you like (minimum 5 months).

Think about learning a sport. You can understand the rules and techniques, but without regular training and coaching, your form gets sloppy. You don’t build endurance, muscle memory, or strategic perspective. Under pressure, your performance falters.

Running your practice works the same way. Without a regular cadence of reviewing metrics, refining processes, and practicing leadership skills, even the best tools fall into disuse.

More than tools, you need structure, consistent practice, and a community that keeps you accountable. That’s what AIM Groups provide.

What Happens Inside AIM Groups?

Many owners leave a workshop energized, only to find themselves back in the whirlwind of daily operations. Here’s what AIM participants say about what changed.

“All in all, I truly can’t explain how much my mood, vision, and excitement for the future has shifted with this group. I found focus and intention in my work again, which was more than I could have asked for.”

“Cindy’s passion for her work is infectious. She not only helped me to find my vision for the future, but she helped me to clarify it, get excited about it, and showed me how to pave my path to get there.”

“I thought I was ready to quit being a therapist and open an ice cream shop… This group helps to identify strengths, set goals, recognize obstacles, and stay on track. Beyond that, I met lovely people and feel energized and hopeful about the future.”

How AIM Groups Work

AIM Groups are not a CEU course or a workshop. It’s a structured practice environment where you work with the tools you already have, building the habits and rhythms that make them useful over time.

Each group is limited to six practice owners and meets twice per month via Zoom: one two-hour Rocks & Roadblocks session focused on metrics and progress, and one 90-minute guided learning session on core owner skills.

(2-hour meeting, once per month)

A structured session that keeps you accountable to your commitments and metrics. Each meeting you will:

  • Review dashboard metrics and monthly financials
  • Report progress on quarterly Rocks – your 90-day priorities
  • Identify and resolve roadblocks together
  • Refine your systems, roles, and processes
  • Give and receive feedback from fellow owners

(90-minute meeting, once per month)

A guided session on core owner skills, with topics tailored to the group. Sessions may cover:

  • Understanding what your numbers are telling you
  • Using data to guide choices
  • Structured problem-solving
  • Defining what only you can do
  • Growing capacity without losing control
  • Making operations more efficient
  • Creating predictable cadences for review and planning
  • Building toward your future exit or evolution

Are AIM Groups right for you?

If you’re on the fence, you’re probably not doubting the value of accountability or structure. You’re wondering if this is the right time, the right fit, or whether you can actually follow through. Those are the right questions to ask. Here’s what other owners were thinking before they joined.

Common Concerns

I’m stretched thin, I don’t have time for another commitment.

AIM is designed for that reality. Two meetings per month, each with a clear agenda and a defined end time. Most participants find the accountability actually saves time by keeping them out of reactive mode.

I finished my Traction Pod a while ago. Am I too far out?

No. AIM picks up wherever you are. If your tools have gathered dust, that’s exactly the problem AIM is built to solve. You just need to want to get back in action.

I have the tools already. Do I really need ongoing support?

Having the tools and using them consistently are two different things. Most practice owners know what to do. AIM gives you the structure and peer accountability to actually do it.

Will the group be relevant to where I am in my practice?

Groups are limited to six owners and formed with fit in mind. You’ll be with peers at a comparable stage, not a mixed room where half the content doesn’t apply to you.

Is the investment worth it?

AIM costs less per month than most practice consultants charge for a single session. The owners who get the most from it treat it as an operating expense — the structure that keeps everything else running.
